How did Attila the Hun contribute to the downfall of the Roman Empire? â€Å"He was a man born into the world to shake the nations, the scourge of all lands, who in some way terrified all mankind† – Priscus - Cited by Jordanes in The Origin and Deeds of the Goths. Attila the Hun. A man so relentless in his search for power that he killed his own brother, and so blinded by self entitlement that he went to war over a women who showed him no affection. The sheer mention of his notoriously dreaded name was enough to make anyone opposing him in the mid 5th century shudder in fear, as he led the Hunnic Empire across Europe, leaving a trail of death and destruction in his wake. Most civilisations were unable to impede Attila, as he guided his people, the Huns, to a height never before reached by his predecessors, and a height that no Hun after him would ever reach again. Undoubtedly the biggest impact made not only by Attila, but the Huns in general, was the massive contribution they made to the downfall of the ever prominent Roman Empire.
